POSITION: Business Intelligence Director
LOCATION: St. Louis, MO
PAY: Starting at $130,000 - $150,000
Essential Responsibilities
- Project Planning: Leading projects to produce reports and perform quantitative or qualitative analyses that address impactful business issues or questions.
- Collaboration: Working with other departments to identify and generate potential business intelligence initiatives.
- Resource Management: Ensuring business intelligence analysts have the necessary tools, training, and understanding to create effective dashboards, reports, and metrics.
- Staffing Decisions: Making resource allocation and staffing decisions.
- Strategic Input: Providing input into strategic decisions affecting the functional area of responsibility.
- Metrics and Performance Review: Developing and leading a metrics and performance review process for all business data needs to meet company’s financial goals.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Identifying business requirements for KPIs to assess progress against business objectives.
- Ad Hoc Reporting/Analysis: Creating ad hoc reporting and analysis solutions in partnership with other functional areas (e.g., Sales, Finance, Legal, Operations, HR).
- Leading-edge Analyses: Uncovering improvement opportunities in leveraging company data and ROI to increase overall company profit.
- Data Governance: Leading governance of digital data assets, including developing governance plans and structures.
- Cross-functional Initiatives: Providing strategic leadership on large cross-functional horizontal initiatives related to data reporting roll outs.
- Audit Log and Security Controls: Ensuring internal IT policies are enforced to protect data and ensure security access levels are maintained/audited.
- Framework and Data Warehouse Development: Partner with IT and Business Application Teams to obtain and create data collection framework and access. Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, cleanse, and transform raw data into actionable insights for business users.
- Automation: Building tools to automate data collection.
- Data Models: Develop predictive models, algorithms, and forecasting techniques to optimize business processes, improve performance, and drive revenue growth.
- Strategy: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science, business intelligence, and analytics, and share knowledge with C-Suite to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in data science tasks, including data visualization, analyzing large datasets, predictive analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, identifying trends, and drawing actionable insights.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes, goals, and strategies to align BI efforts with organizational objectives.
- Leadership: Ability to manage and lead a team of analysts, data engineers, and other BI professionals.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), SQL, and data visualization. Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to convey complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving business value through data-driven decision-making.
- Programming: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with experience using data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Solid Mathematical Foundation: A good understanding of statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory to develop and interpret machine learning models effectively.
- A Bachelor of Education Degree (BEd) in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Finance or similar related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in business intelligence.
- Experience in the security contracting or other service-related industry is desired.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Certifications in data science, machine learning, or business intelligence (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft Fabric solutions in a business environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Fabric components and architecture.
